The Lord’s teaching together with the many eye-opening experiences He’s led me through, have yielded many original songs, short articles, essays and devotionals. The truths He has shown me together with the joyous freedoms they bring has stirred a passion within me to share everything and boast about my Savior. It is my sincere hope the reader will be encouraged by this blog and discover the many benefits of freedom in Christ and to walk in them.
Naturally, examining freedom is two-fold; identifying what freedom is and what holds us back. This blog does both. About that, learning many in the body of Christ are prisoners of Babylon is deeply unsettling; more so seeking Christ’s direction for what to do about it (Revelation 18). I hope the reader will give serious consideration to verse 4 which says “… Come out of her, My people …” and seek Christ for the strength and courage to come out of religion’s prison and be gathered unto Him.
Purpose
Since I was a teen, I’ve heard men boast about the freedom we have as sons of God. Yet for all the banner waving, I can’t recall a single message that explored the depth and breadth of our freedom beyond forgiveness from sin and eternal life in Christ. On the contrary, I’ve often heard men weave mind-numbing rationalizations for a religious system that for 2000 years has grown up like choke weed around the sons of God and made us into sons of hell. If indeed Jesus has broken our shackles to set us free, why aren’t we walking out of our religious prisons to join Him, outside the camp?
The Messiah has set us free so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. So keep on standing firm in it, and stop putting yourselves under the yoke of slavery again (Galatians 5:1 ISV).
Therefore go to him outside the camp and endure the insults he endured (Hebrews 13:13 ISV).
Walking with Christ Jesus these last 55 years has shown me that to walk in freedom is to walk alone, save for the few precious brothers and sisters I’ve met along the way and with whom I’ve broken living bread. Sadly, most will remain in the religious institutions of man because they value the approval of man and the comfort of conformity more than they value a vibrant and obedient relationship with Christ.
Therefore the sons are free (Matthew 17:26 ASV/ERV).
Shouldn’t free sons walk the talk?
Comments
Why does any believer blog? For me, it’s a journal of my spirit-life experience, shared for a very few specific reasons:
- To boast of my Father and His Son (Galatians 6:14);
- To encourage others (1 Thessalonians 5:11);
- To “tear down arguments, and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God” (2 Corinthians 10:5)
There is another reason, a personal one, which unlike the 3 above, is not altogether pure:
- Man’s religious system habitually denies the brethren an opportunity to prophesy, testify and otherwise share from the “Living Epistle” that the Lord has written in every heart He calls “home” (1 Corinthians 14:26, 2 Corinthians 3:3).
I will not be silenced by man’s religious system. This I believe is the real reason most of my blogging brothers and sisters write about what the Spirit reveals to them.
To the extent this is my personal journal, comments are disabled. Also, I’ve never been comfortable with a “Comment” form at the end of every post like the TIP jar at a coffee stand. Far too often I’ve seen them used in ways that provoke the flesh when what’s needed is to embrace the cross of Christ.
Nevertheless, I recognize the hope of making connections and reaching out to a brother in fellowship. To that end I can be reached by email at thesonsarefree dot com.
