Why does any believer blog? Did God say “start a blog”? I rather doubt it. For me, a blog is more or less a journal of my spirit-life experience, shared for a very few specific reasons:
- To boast of my Father and His Son (Galatians 6:14);
- To encourage others (1 Thessalonians 5:11);
- To “tear down arguments, and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God” (2 Corinthians 10:5)
There is another reason, a personal one, which unlike the 3 above, is not altogether pure:
- Man’s religious system habitually denies the brethren an opportunity to prophesy, testify and otherwise share from the “Living Epistle” that the Lord has written in every heart He calls “home” (1 Corinthians 14:26, 2 Corinthians 3:3).
I will not be silenced by man’s religious system. This I believe is the real reason most of my blogging brothers and sisters write about what the Spirit is revealing to them.
For me, blogging isn’t about comments, likes and ratings, stats, site promotion and all of that. The way I have it figured, the same God who reached down and took hold of me, is more than able to lead anyone to Himself or this site if He wants. In as much as He has always held me to the command “freely ye have received (from me), freely give (to others)”, I want to give from what I’ve been given freely. That means, for me at least, I can’t have a “Comment” form hanging out there at the end of every post and page like the TIP jar at a coffee stand. I don’t need my ego stoked, when my ego needs to embrace the cross of Christ.
So I’d rather just hang my email out there for anyone who wants to chat awhile, because I’m just not comfortable with the implied use of the “Comment” form. Read enough moderated blogs and it becomes apparent that the only comments approved for posting convey accolades for the author. Lest there be any question about that, try to find the BS button! Or make a less than fawning comment on a moderated blog and watch whether it gets approved for posting.
My email, for anyone who wants to write me about anything, is below. God bless you for reading and understanding.

P.S., Of late, The Sons are Free has been inundated with “follows” from people with blank profiles and no blog of their own. Likewise a number of photo-only blogs, typically with captioned photos of food or places. These I suspect have to do with traffic building and not a sincere interest to read the blogs they’ve followed. Since the essence of Yeshua’s “ekklesia” – His “called out” people – is sharing, breaking bread together real and spiritual, I remove all such “follows” since clearly the people behind these blank profiles and word-less blogs have no intent of sharing.
What then, brethren? Whenever you assemble, there is not one of you who is not ready either with a song of praise, a sermon, a revelation, a ‘tongue,’ or an interpretation. Let everything be done with a view to the building up of faith and character. (1 Corinthians 14:26 WNT)
Encourage each other … (Ephesians 5:19 ERV)
… teach and admonish one another … (Colossians 3:16 WNT)
